abstractThis paper reports two new species of the genus Haemogamasus and two new species of the genus Eulaelaps belonging to the stabularis group complex. The types are deposited in the Health & Anti-Epidemic Station of Sichuan Province and the Shanghai First Medical College.
Haemogamasus emeiensis, sp. nov. (figs. 1-17)
Female: Idiosoma 836×587µ. Sternal plate 122×163µ, with 3 pairs of sternal setae, St1 situated at the anterior margin. Genitoventral plate with 1 pair of genital and 8 ventral setae. Anal plate pear-shaped, with 2 accessory setae. Peritremal plate extended and curved posteriorly to encompass coxae IV, and fused with a part of parapodal plate in the form of making a branch. Coxa II with 1 spur on the anterior area.
Male: Idiosoma 631×412µ. Holoventral plate strongly expanded behind coxae IV, with about 60 accessory setae. Palps without specific setae. Leg II, coxa with 1 spur, femur and tarsus with 2 spines, genu and tibia with 1 spine.
This species is closely allied to H. suncus Allred, but in the latter, coxae II without spurs, sternal plate with only 2 pairs of setae, and posterior part of peritremal plate not forked.
Holotype ♀ and allotype ♂ were collected off Anourosorex squamipes Milne-Edwards from Emei Sichuan, alt. 1400m, in August, 1978.
Haemogamasus tangkeensis, sp. nov. (figs. 18-23)
Female: Idiosoma 928×629µ (863-944×535-664 in 10 paratypes). Sternal plate 126×148µ (126-133×151-155 in 9 paratypes); St1 plumose, St2 and St3, smooth; with 29 accessory setae (27-35 in 9 paratypes); posterior margin weakly incurved, not extending to the level of St3. Genitoventral plate with 48 ventral setae (48-69 in 9 paratypes) on its middle and posterior parts. Chela rather large, with teeth; pilus dentilis hair-like. Tarsus IV very long.
Male unknown.
This species is similar to H. kusumotoi Asan. and H. serdjukovae Breg., but the accessory setae on the sternal plate are more in number, the pilus dentilis is different in shape, and tarsus IV is very long.
Holotype ♀ was collected from Myospalax fontanierii Milne-Edwards from Tangke, Zoigê County, Sichuan, in July, 1960. Paratypes were collected from the same locality as holotype in 1960, 3♀♀ from nest of Marmota bobak himalayana Hodgson, 5♀♀ from nest of Ochotona thibetana Milne-Edwards, 1♀ from Myospalax fontanierii Milne-Edwards, and 1♀ record unknown.
Eulaelaps silvestris, sp. nov. (fig. 24)
Female: Idiosoma 1096×784µ. Scutum with about 190 dorsal setae. Sternal plate 131×212µ. Genitoventral plate with 1 pair of genital and about 40 ventral setae; both lateral margins with a clear incision on the level of coxae IV, but without canalicule-like invaginations. Anal plate slightly convex on the mid-portion of anterior margin, 121×283µ. Peritrematal plate broad and about 82µ in width; its posterior truncate end with 2-3 longitudinal curved lines extending from stigma to posterior margin of the plate and 3-4 transverse curved lines extending from peritremeto external margin; lyriform organ very large. Gnathosomal groove with 10-11 rows of dentation, each with 4-10 teeth. Tectum tongue-like, at the anterior margin extensions rather long. Chela 80µ long.
Male unknown.
This species resembles E. dongfangis Wen, but in the latter, scutum with about 480 dorsal setae, peritrematal plate not very broad, and its posterior end narrow, metapodal plate small, equiangular triangle in shape, and anal plate narrow and long.
Holotype ♀ was collected off Apodemus chevirieri Milne-Edwards from Heishui County, Sichuan, in August, 1960, Paratypes 3♀♀ were collected off Rattus niviventerHodgson and Rattus coxingi Swinhoe from Heishui County, Sichuan, in June, 1960, and 21♀♀ collected from same locality, host unknown.
Eulaelaps pratentis, sp. nov. (fig. 25)
Female: ldiosoma 944×643µ. Scutum with about 300 dorsal setae. Sternal plate147×182?µ. Genitoventral plate with 1 pair of genital and about 40 ventral setae; both lateral margins with a clear slightly curved invaginated canalicule incisions on the level of coxae IV. Anal plate 104×208µ. Metapodal plate 164×114µ. Peritrematal plate narrow, 60µ in width, with 3 longitudinal curved lines extending from stigma to posterior margin of the plate; lyriform organ shuttle-shaped. Gnathosomal groove with 9 rows of dentation, each with 3-4 teeth. Tectum tongue-like, with 4-5 central peg-like extensions. Chela 74µ long.
Male unknown.
This species is near to E. jilinensis Wen, but differs from the latter in the following characteristics: 1, Dorsal setae more in number. 2, Genitoventral plate with a clear slightly curved invaginated canalicule incision on each side at the level of coxae IV. 3, Lyriform organ shuttle-shaped. 4, Leg II without specialized rabbit-ear-like setae.
Holotype ♀ was collected off mouseʼs nest from Tangke, Zoigê County, in September, 1960. Paratypes 53♀♀ were collected off mouseʼs nest and as vagrant mites from the same locality as holotype from July to September, 1960.
