abstractIn samples of soil, carried out in Los Hornos Experiemntal Station (La Plata, Buenos Aires Province) mites of the Suborder Cryptostigmata belonging to the family Oppiidae were found. They are grouped into two different genera: Oppiiella and Oppia, with three species each; within the former the following species are distinguistied: O. reticulata sp. nov.; O. suramericana (Hammer, 1958) and O. nova (Oudemans, 1902); and within the later: O. sengbuschi (Hammer, 1968) comb. nov. for Ramusella sengbuschi; O. cuscensis (Hammer, 1961) comb. nov. for Brachioppia cuscensis and O. pentagona sp. nov. O. senguschi and O. cuscensis are cited for the first time for Argentina, also O. nova and O. suramericana are cited for Buenos Aires Province.
Frecuency and abundance histograms based on the different studies species data, together with a key for their diagnosis are given.
