| abstract | Specimens previously identified as Amblyseius umbraticus (Chant) from both the Old and the New Worlds were studied to determine if they are indeed conspecific. Both direct observations and numerical analyses suggest that the North American group and the Old World group are separate entities. Specimens from Algeria form a third entity. The European group constitutes the true A. umbraticus, the Algerian group is a new species, and the North American group is reidentified as A. collegae (De Leon). Full descriptions of the three species are provided. |
