abstractThe paper reports a new species belonging to the genus Iphiseius of the Phytoseiidae from Guangdong, China. The type specimens are deposited in the Guangdong Institute of Entomology.
Iphiseius dinghuensis, sp nov. (figs. 1-5)
Female: body heavily sclerotized. Lateral margin of dorsal shield with reticulations and other parts with finger-like markings. 17 pairs of setae on dorsal shield, L9, M2 and D6 serrate, remaining setae smooth. Setae S1 and S2 on sclerotized interscutal membrane. Sternal, genital and ventrianal shield each with reticulations. Genital shield very close to ventrianal shield, much.narrower than latter, Ventrianal shield wider than long, withfour pairs of preanal setae. Only two pairs of setae on membrane surrounding ventrianal shield. Genu II and III each with seven setae. Leg IV without macrosetae on genu, tibia and basitarsus.
Holotype ♀, 20-VI-1979, Mt. Dinghu, Guangdong, on Litsea monopetala Pers. Paratype: 1♀, same as for holotype.
Iphiseius dinghuensis is similar to Iphiseius formosanus Ehara 1970, but it differs from the latter in the relative length and shape of dorsal chaetaxy (see fig. 1 and table 1), the number of minute pores and the reticulations on the dorsal shield, and a shield between genital and ventrianal shield.
