| abstract | In this paper, four new species of the Genus Herpetacarus Vercammen-Grandjean, 1960 are described. The types of all the new species are deposited in the Control and Research Institute of Epidemic Diseases of Yunnan Province.

Sensillae slender club-shaped. Dorsal setae 50-59 in number, arranged (Holotype) 2-8-12-4-9-7-7-6-2=57. Sternal setae 2 pairs. Ventral setae 70-78 in number. Legs with solenidions as figured. Holotype collected from Rattus coxingi andersoni in August 1971, from Yunnan Province.

Idiosoma of engorged larvae 756×504µ. Galeal setae nude, palpal setae formula B-B-BBB, palpal tarsus setae 7B.S, palpal claw 3-forked. Shape of scutum as indicated in the figure, PL>AM>AL. Sensillae elongate club-shaped, with numerous long setules on expanded portion. Dorsal setae 67-77 in number, arranged (holotype)2-13-7-7-19-11-12-4-5=71. Sternal setae 3 pairs. Holotype collected from Rattus flavipectus in July 1964. 5 paratypes collected from Apodemus agrarius chevrieri and Sciurotamias forresti in 1962, 1963, 1970, 1975, from Yunnan Province.
