| abstract | In this paper a new species of the genus Eulaelaps is described and figured.
Eulaelaps dremomydis, sp.nov.
This new species resembles E. silvestris Zhou but differs from the latter in: peritrematal plate narrower, 60µ in width with round posterior end, pyriform organ external to stigma, while the peritrematal plate of E. silvestris broader, 82µ in width, posterior end truncated, pyriform organ behind the stigma; anterior margin of tectum with 3 very large tree-like extensions, ramified secondarily and tertiarily and even overlapped, while that of E. silvestris shorter and smaller; legs with coxal markings and leg II with two tarsal spurs, but in E. silvestris such markings and spurs are lacking.
Holotype female, allotype male, paratypes 6 females were collected off Dremomys pernyi Milne-Edwards, from Xingyi County (25°5ʼ N, 104°45ʼ E), Guizhou Province, in June, 1977; other 3 females same as for the holotype, but in May, 1964; 1 female was collected off the same host species from Longli County (26°30ʼ N, 106°56ʼ E), in July, 1977 and another female off Sciurotamias davidianus saltitans (Heude) from Xingyi County, in June, 1977. All types are deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Guiyang Medical College. |
