Trombiculindus (Plumosicola) ochotonae, sp. nov. (figs. 1-3)
Trombiculid mites of medium size, Ip=1015. Chelicera with usual tricuspid cap. Galeala branched. Formula of palpal setation N-N-BNN, fT=7B. Scutum punctate, roughly wide rectangular. AM behind AL line, SB slightly before or on PL line. Eyes 2×2. AW 95, PW 108, SB 48, ASB 30, PSB 18, AP 30,AL 47, PL 65. Dorsal setae arranged as 2,16,13,18,8,8,10,7,6,3=91. Ventral setae with 40 preanals and 15 postanals. Leg I with 2 genualae, leg II with 1 genuala, leg III-with 1 genuala and 1 tibiala, no mastisetae. SIF=7B-B-3-2111.0000.
This mite is similar to T. squamifera (Womersley, 1952), but with SB slightly before or on PL line. It differs from such species with SB on PL line as T. traubi (Womersley, 1952), T. fordi (Womersley, 1952) and T. thurmani Traub et al, 1968, in having larger AW and PW.
Holotype, larva, collected off Ochotona gloveri from Barkam County, Aba Zang Autonomous Prefecture on Jan. 10th, 1981. Specimen deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Fujian Medical College.
Helenicula abaensis, sp. nov. (figs. 4-7)
Trombiculid mite of medium size. Ip =1069. Chelicera with usual tricuspid cap. Galeala nude. Formula of palpal setation B-B-BBB, fT=5B. Scutum punctate, roughly rectangular. Sensilla globose, with sparse minute spicules, so that the expanded portion of sensilla appears nude. Sensillary bases close together and situated before the PL line. Eyes 2×2. AW 71, PW 86, SB 13, ASB 35, PSB 22, AP 38, AM 43, AL 63, PL 60, Sens peduncle 8, expanded portion 30×25. Dorsal setae arranged as 4,6,11,12,10,10,7,5=65. Ventral setae with 44 preanals and 23 postanals. Leg I with 2 genualae, 2 tibialae, 1 tarsala, leg II with 1 genuala, 2 tibialae, 1 tarsala, leg III with 1 genuala and 1 tibiala, no mastisetae. Nude subterminala, parasubterminala, pretarsalae 1 and 2 present. SIF=5B-N-3-2111.0000.
This mite is similar to H. simens (Hsu et Chen, 1957) and H. scaloni (Domrow et Na-dchatram, 1964), but with much larger scutum (also sensilla) and more dorsal setae.
Holotype, larva, collected off Rattus confucianus from Gangou, Barkam County, Aba Zang Autonomous Prefecture on Apr. 17th, 1979. Specimen deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Fujian Medical College. |
