abstractIn the present paper a new species of Dipolaelaps Zem. et Piont., 1960 is described and illustrated from China.
Dipolaelaps jiangkouensis sp. nov. (figs. 1-3)
Holotype ♀ (1983, I. 3) and paratype 1♀ (1983. III. 18) were collected off Rattus niviventer Hodgson, from Jiangkou County, Guizhou Province, 108°51ʼ E, 27°43ʼ N. Type specimens are deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Guiyang Medical College.
This new species is near Dipolaelaps hoi Chang et Hsu, 1965 and D. chimmarogalis Gu, 1983, but the idioaoma of the new species is smaller (length about 500µ, the other two species about 600µ) and more rounded (ratio of length to width 1.25:1, the other 2 spp. 1.5:1), and its pilus dentilis is bugle-like. Furthermore, St1 of the new species is free from sternal plate, and genitoventral plate wider than that of D. hoi. The distance between genitoventral plate and anal plate is larger and anal plate is wider in the new species than in D. chimmarogalis.
