abstractThe adult female and male and larval female of Stigmacarus stantoni sp. nov. are described. These parasitic mites were collected from the bases of radial veins of the wings of weevils (Lixus sp. Curculionidae) in Tsikaji, Zaire. S. stantoni is compared with the only other known species of Stigmacarus, S. lukoschusi Feldman-Muhsam and Havivi 1977, and also associated with weevils.
