abstractDuring 1980-1983, a lot of phytoseiid mites were collected by the authors, from Mt. Jianfangling Natural Reserve, Hainan Island. This paper reports four new species of the genera Typhlodromus, Amblyseius and Phytoseius. The type specimens are deposited in the Guangdong Institute of Entomology.
Typhlodromus (Chiliseius) tengi sp. nov. (figs. 1-4)
The present species is readily distinguished from Typhlodromus (Chiliseius) lieni (Tseng) by the following characters: Dorsal shield and ventral shield heavily sclerotized, the ventrianal shield with three pairs of preanal setae, the first two pairs almost aligned and the margins of ventrianal shield thickened.
Male: Unknown.
Holotype ♀, paratypes 2♀♀, Jianfengling (18°40ʼ N, 108°40ʼ E), Hainan Island, Guangdong Province, 11. XI. 1983, on Sophora sp.
This species is named in honor of the chief editor of Acta Zootaxonomica, Prof. Teng Kuo-fan, Acarologist.
Typhlodromus (Chiliseius) separates sp. nov. (figs. 5-9)
This is a very distinct species, easily distinguished from other known species of the genus Typhlodromus by the ventrianal shield which is divided into ventral shield and anal shield, the ventral shield is square, with three pairs of preanal setae, and the first lateral setae of postscutum being in a straight line with the posterior pair of sublateral setae.
Male: Unknown.
Holotype ♀, paratypes 3♀♀, Jianfengling, Hainan Island, 10.XI 1983, on Rhus sp.
Amblyseius (Amblyseius) curvus sp. nov. (figs. 10-15)
This species is similar to Amblyseius fallacis (Garman), but differs from the latter in the chelicera with ten teeth on fixed digit and two teeth on movable digit, the posterior margin of sternal shield as a curved line, and the setae of dorsal shield longer, especially setae L3, L6 L7, and L8 are about one third times longer than those of the latter.
Male: Unknown.
Holotype ♀, paratype 1♀, Jianfengling, Hainan Island, 5. XI. 1983, on an unknown plant.
Phytoseius (Dubininellus) longus sp. nov. (figs. 16-19)
This species is similar to Phytoseius (Dubininellus) nudus Wu et Li, but differs from nudus in the setae M2 with barbs, setae L1, L5 and M2 longer and the different shape of speraatheca.
Male: Unknown.
Holotype ♀, paratype 1♀, Jianfengling, Hainan Island. 10. X. 1980, on Glochidion sp., collected by Qian Xing.
