| abstract | A new oribatid species, Basilobelba aethiopica (Acarida), collected in southern Ethiopia is described. The characters of Basilobelba Balogh 1958, a circumtropical genus, are re-examined and discussed from the biogeographical and evolutionary points of view. Some new characters are introduced into the systematics of the genus and these are checked in some of the known species. |
