| abstract | This paper reporte three new species of genera Parasitus and Cornigamasus from China. All the specimens are deposited in the First Institute of Endemic Disease Research, Jilin Province.
1 Parasitus brachychaetus sp. nov. (figs. 1-3)
This new species is near to Parasitus consanguineus Oudemans Voigts, 1904, but differs from it by: the setae of the dorsal shield shorter; in the female, the ventro-anal shield wide, the setae Ad lying at the mid level of the anus, the apical spine of the tarsus II-IV stout; in the male, the body enlarged, the spurs of the femur II wider, the movable digit of the chelicera forked distally.
Holotype female, allotype male and paratypes I male and 10 deutonymphs, off Marmota himalayana Hodgson, Microtus oeconomus Pallas and Myospalax fontanieri Milne-Edwards, from Taojiang County, Gansu Province (34°06ʼN, 101°43ʼE), August, 1960.
2. Parasitus fragilis sp. nov. (f?s. 4-6)
This new species is near to Parasitus fimetorum (Berlese, 1903), but differs from it by: many setae enlarged and fragile, with apexes being blunt and pilose; the posterior dorsal shield bearing more than 2 pairs of pilose setae; in the female, the body small, weakly sclerotized, all the shields ill-defined; setae F1 smooth, S3 pilose, St1-St2 short and stout, all setae on genito-ventro-anal shield smooth; in the male, corniculi small and bifidus, setae Mst and Vl1 particularly inflationary, all the spurs on leg II much wider.
Holotype female, allotype male and paratypes 2 females and 10 deutonymphs, off Marmota himalayana and Ochotona daurica Pallas, from Taojiang County, Gansu Province, July, 1960.
3. Cornigamasus lunaroides sp. nov. (figs. 7-9)
The new species is akin to Cornigamasus lunaris (Berlese, 1882), but may be readily distinguished from it by: all dorsal setae stout and brush-shaped; in the female, the anterior margin of sternal shield wavy, 2 pairs of anterior sternal shields small, the genital area with a larger and oval structure, Pa longer than Ad, the fixed cheliceral digit bifid distally, its teeth lying in a row.
Holotype female, allotype male and paratypes 4 females, 2 males and 5 deutonymphs, off Marmota himalayana, from Taojiang County, Gansu Province, September, 1960. |
