abstractLeptotrombidium (L.) rufocanum sp. nov. (figs 1-4
Body ovate. Length 362-537µm, width 286-435µm, fp=N-N-BNN/7B. Galeal setae nude. Palpal claw with 3-prongs. Scutum tetragonal, with biconvex posterior margin. Sensilla filiform, with bare basal portion, terminal 2/3 with 11-13 minute branches. Dorsal setae 38-47 in number, arranged as 2-10(9-12)-8(8-ll)-8(7-10)-6(8-6)-4(4-2)-2. The measurements of holotype: AW 89 PW 97 SB 40 ASB 28 PSB 19 SD 47 AP 26 AM 64 AL 43 PL 66 S 75. Leg I 298-308µm, II 266-277µm, III 307-311µm, Ip = 871-896.
Holotype and 10 paratypes collected off Clethrionomys rufocanus from Huolong County, Jilin Province on August 11, 1985. Holotype and 5 paratypes deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Fujian Medical College, another 5 paratypes deposited in Army Military Medical Research Institute, Shenyang, PLA, China.
This new species is similiar to L. burnsi, L. tosai, L. rupestre and L. intermedium, but differs from L. burnsi and L. tosai by larger AW, PW and SB, with more NDV than L. tosai, with less DS than L. rupestre, with biconvex posterior margin which differs from L. intermedium. The differences between those mites are shown in table.
