abstractTwo new species of Haemogamasidae from China are described and figured in this paper, one of them belonging to the genus Haemogamasus, the other to the genus Eulaelaps. The types are deposited in the Research Institute of Endemic Disease Control, Qinghai Province and the Department of Parasitology, Guiyang Medical College, Guizhou Province.
Haemogamasus huangzhongenis sp. nov. (figs. 1-7)
This species resembles Haemogamasus concavus Teng et Pan, 1964, but in the latter idiosoma smaller, anterior and posterior margin of sternal plate more concave, accessory setae on sternal and genito-ventral plate lesser, peritrematal plate shorter, and without a long feather-like setae on tarsus of leg II.
Holotype ♀ and paratypes 15♀♀ were collected in a nest of Citellus dauricus Brande, on July 11. 1984, from Huangzhong County, 36°27’N, 101°30’E, Qinghai Province.
Eulaelaps substabularis sp. nov. (figs. 8-12)
This species is similar to Eulaelaps stabularis Koch, 1836, but may be differenciated from the latter by the following characters: scutum bearing 210 setae in this species and 300 setae in the latter; anterior margin of sternal plate concave in this species and convex in the latter; the new species bearing 16 setae each with 2-3 spinlets on the bared venter, while the latter bearing 40 smooth setae; tectum of the new species short and broad, with long peg-like extensions ramified secondary, that of the latter species narrow and long, with central extensions fewer and shorter.
Holotype ♀ and paratypes 2♀♀ were collected on July 23. 1983. 14♀♀. on July 20, 1983, off Ochotona cansus Lyon, from Huzhu County 36°50’N, 102°28’E; 3♀♀ on June 15. 1983, from Xunhua County, 35°49’N, 102°27’E, and 2♀♀ on May 18. 1983, from Hualong County, 36°06’N, 102°17’E, off Apodemus speciosus Temminck and Pitymys irene Thomas respectively.
