abstractThe present paper deals with two species of the genus Pachyseius Berlese, of which one is new species and the other is recorded for the first time from China.
1. Pachyseius sinicus sp. nov. (figs. 1-4)
The new species is similar to P. angustus Hyatt, but can be distinguished by the following characters: the ventri-anal shield with four pairs of pre-anal setae; the ster-nal shield with one pair of horn-like projections in front of the St1 setae.
Holotype ♀, taken from the forest soil on June 15, 1982, from Mt. Changbai, 42°N, 128°E, Jilin Province, China, Paratype 1♀, taken in June, 1983, from the same place as the holotype. All type specimens are deposited in the Department of Plant Protection, Shenyang Agricultural College, Shenyang, China.
2. Pachyseius orientalis Nikolsky, 1982
2♀♀, new record from China.
Locality Mt. Changbai, Jilin Province, China, collected in June, 1983, from the forest soil.
