abstractThe new mite species Androlaelaps pilosus, found on the hexathelid spider Macrothele calpeiana (Walckenaer), is described. This is the first record of such an association, species of Androlaelaps being normally found in the nest of birds or mammals and on the bodies of small mammals, particularly rodents.
