abstractPneumophagus bubonis n.g., n.sp. (Acari: Cloacaridae) is described from the lungs of the Great Horned Owl, Bubo virginianus (Gmelin), from the U.S.A. A new subfamily Pneumophaginae n. subfam., is created in the Cloacaridae for this new genus. It is the first member of this mite family found in a bird.
