abstractThe present paper deals with 14 species of the genus Hirstionyssus reported from Shaanxi Province. Among them Hirstionyssus ansaiensis, H. citelli and H. montanus are described as new to science, and H. zaisanica Senotrusova is recorded for the first time from China. The types of three new species are deposited in the Health and Anti-Epidemic Station of Shaanxi Province. Measurements in micron.
Hirstionyssus ansaiensis sp. nov.
Female (figs. 3-6) Idiosome elliptical, length 686-696, width 445-465. Dorsal plate bearing 26 pairs of small setae, the anterior ones and M11 longer. Tectum expanded terminally, rosette in form. Posterior margin of sternal plate irregularly straight to slightly concave. Coxal spur formula 0-1-2-0. Setae av1 and pv1 on tarsus II stout and claw-like.
Holotype (No. 87 SA 1-1) female and paratype 1 female from Longshitou (36°47’ N, 109°15’ E, 1.200m), Ansai County, ex Myospalax fontanieri Miln-Edwards and its nest. 7. IX, 1987, coll: C. A. Huang.
This new species resembles H. georgicus Bregetova, but 1. its idiosoma smaller; 2. dorsal plate with 26 pairs of setae; 3. posterior margin of sternal plate straight.
Hirstionyssus citelli sp. nov.
Female (figs. 7-11) Idiosome elliptical, length 756, width 505. Dorsal plate hexagonal, with 26 pairs of small setae, the anterior ones and M11 longer. Tectum broadly rounded at its apex, with marginal fimbriae. Coxal spur formula 0-1-2-1. Setae av1 and pv1 on tarsus II stout and claw-like, av1 of tarsus IV acutely spiniform.
Male (fig. 12) Idiosome 577×374. Holoventral plate length 391, with 9 2/1 setal pairs. Coxal spur formula 0-1-2-1.
Holotype (No. 60 SD 1-1) female, allotype (No. 60 SD 1-3) male and paratypes 3♀♀ from Dingbian County, ex Citellus dauricus Brande, 1960, coll: J. Zhang.
This new species is closely related to H. transiliensis neimongkuensis Yao, but body longer, dorsal plate with 26 pairs of setae.
Hirstionyssus montanus sp. nov.
Female (figs. 13-19) Idiosome elliptical, length 627-721, with 27 pairs of setae, of which D1-7, I1-3 very small. Tectum expanded terminally, rosette-form. Sternal plate somewhat rectangular, 103×145, with both anterior and posterior margins slightly convex. Coxal spur formula 0-1-2-0. Dorsal view of femur I with one pairs of long setae, the outer one (43) longer then the inner (33). Setae av1 and pv1 on tarsus II claw-like, setae av1 on tarsi III and IV acutely spiniform.
Male (fig. 20) Idiosome length 500-544, width 330-356. Dorsal plate covering most of dorsum Holoventral plate length 368-381, with 9 2/1 setae pairs. Coxal spur formula 0-1-2-1. About 20 pairs of setae on ventral integument.
Holotype (No. 82 ST 24-4) female, allotype (No. 82 ST 24=11) male and paratypes 10♀♀, 1♂ from Dadian (34°00’ N, 107°45’ E, 2.240m), Mt. Taibai, ex Myospalax fontanierii Milne-Edwards, 17. XII, 1982, coll: C. A. Huang, paratypes 37♀♀, 9♂♂ from Mt. Qinling, ex M. fontanierii and their nests, V. 1983; V. 1984; VI. 1986, coll: C. A. Huang. Paratypes 3♀♀, from Shizhai He (31°52’ N, 109°30’ E, 1.100m), Zhenping County, 15. IV, 1983, ex Myospalax rothschildi Thomas, coll: C. A. Huang.
This new species is similar to H. shensiensis Liu et Yuan, but 1. its dorsal plate is different in shape; 2. of the long setae of femur I, the outer one is longer then the inner (the inner is equal to outer in H. shensiensis); 3. its male, there are only 20 pairs of setae on ventral integument.
Hirstionyssus zaisanica Senothusova, 1973
First record in China. Specimens were collected off Dipus sagitta Pallas, 5♀♀, 2♂♂, 24. V, 1985, Yulin County (38°17’ N, 109°45’ E, 1.000m); 1♀, 29. V, 1985, Dingbian County (37°36’ N, 107°35’ E, 1.300m). Phodopus roborovskii Satunin, 1♀, 29. V, 1985, Dingbian County.
