| abstract | This paper deals with two new species of Rhyncaphytoptinae from China. All the type specimens are deposited in the Nanjing Agricultural University.
Catarhinus vulgaris Kuang et Feng, sp. nov. (figs. 1-5)
This new species closely allied to Catarhinus sacchari Kuang, but distinguished by the following characters: thanosome with 32-35 tergites and 70-75 sternites, coxa smooth and featherclaw 5-rayed.
Holotype ♀, taken in December 1984, from Do’an County (23.2° N, 106.4° E), Guangxi, by Feng Yuan-bi. Paratypes 12♀♀, same as holotype. Host: Sorghum vulgare.
Rhyncaphytoptus ipomoeae Kuang et Shi, sp. nov. (figs. 6-10)
The new species closely allied to Rhyncaphytoptus lushanensis Kuang a Zhao, but distingiushed by the following characters: shield designed witn incomplete median line and admedian line with granules near anterior margin and tergites with elliptical microtubercles.
Holotype ♀, taken in August 1985 from Mingquan County (34.6° N, 115.1° E), Henan, by Shi Hong-lee. Allotype ♂, paratypes 7♀♀ same as holotype, Host: Ipomoea batata. |
