abstractIn this paper, a new species of the genus Macrocheles is described and figured.
Macrocheles jiangsuensis sp. nov. (figs. 1-9)
Female (figs. 1-5)
This new species resembles Macrocheles nataliae Breg. et Corel., 1960, but its female differs from the latter in D2-D6, I and F2 setae being simple; the length of sternal plate longer than its width; the ventro-anal plate gradually expanded and reduced posteriorly; the meta-sternal plate slender and femur IV with two dilated pilose bell shap (fig. 5).
Holotype female, allotype male and paratype 7 females, 4 males were collected off the litters of Apodemus agrarius in May 1984, from Danyang County (32° N, 119.5° E), Jiangsu Province. Type species are deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Suzhou Medical College, Suzhou, China.
