| abstract | The genus Acalitus Keifer in Africa is reviewed. A key is given to the 18 recognized species. Of these the following 14 species from indigenous plants are described for the first time: A. gratissimi, A. hereroensei, A. ancyrivalis, A. marinae, A. tanylobus, A. chimanemanus, A. crotoni, A. khorixanus, A. lycioides, A. acanthus, A. ueckermanni, A. aethiopicus, A. pundamariae and A. malelanus. Their relation to their hosts are mentioned, Acalitus salvadorae Keifer, A. bosquieae (Farkas), A. hassani Keifer and A. mallyi (Tucker), formerly recorded from Africa, are defined and the damage to their hosts are discussed briefly. |
