abstractLaelaps jingdongensis sp. nov. (figs. 1-9)
This new mite is closely allied to Laelaps extremi Zachvatkin but (1) female anal plate wider than long, widest in the front of the plate. (2) male tarsus III, IV with 4, 2 spiniform setae respectively, instead of 3, 3. (3) male holoventral plate strongly expanded behind coxa IV and with ascending lateral angal.
Holotype ♀, allotype ♂, paratypes 33♀♀, 1♂, were collected off Apodemus sylvaticus orestes Thomas, from Jingdong County (24°32’ N, 101°02’ E), 2450 m, Yunnan, in May 1986. Paratype 1♀, host unknow, from Lijiang County(26°53’ N, 100°13’ E), 3350 m, Yunnan, in Nov. 1985. All types are deposited in the Research Institute of Epidemic Diseases of Yunnan.
