| abstract | This paper deals with three new species of the genus Eviphis from Sichuan, China. All the type specimens are deposited in the Sanitation & Anti-Epidemic Station of Sichuan Province.
1. Eviphis ruoergaiensis sp. nov. (figs. 1-5)
This new species is similar to Eviphis himalayaensis Ma et Piao and Eviphis ostrinus (Koch), in having one invaginated incision and one lyrifrom organs on the slender peritrematal plate, but differs from them in: 1) without small sclerites behind the genito-ventral plate; 2) tritosternal base narrow triangular in shape; 3) dorsal setae 26 pairs in number; 4) ventral setae 10 pairs in number.
Holotype ♀ and paratypes 18♀♀ collected from Tangke, Ruoergai County of Sichuan Province (33°23’ N, 102°28’ E), June-September 1960, off rat nest and Myospalax fontanieri.
2. Eviphis nanchongensis sp. nov. (figs. 6-10)
This new species resembles Eviphis huainanensis Wen, in having slender peritrematal plate, St3 and posterior setae of coxae II and III spur-like, but differs from the latter in the following characters: 1) dorsal setae 29 pairs (vs. 30); 2) ventral setae 7 pairs (vs. 9); 3) sternal plate subrectangular in shape; 4) anal plate pear-like in shape.
Holotype ♀ was found from Nanchong County, Sichuan Province (30°47’ N, 106°05’ E) in the house of a patient, August 1963.
3. Eviphis wanglangensis sp. nov. (figs. 11-15)
This new species is near to Eviphis convergens Berlese, in having broad peritrematal plate, but differs from the latter in the following characters: 1) peritrematal plate with two invaginated incisions and three lyriform organs; 2) nine pairs of ventral setae in the region posterior to coxae IV; 3) one pair of platelets behind the genitoventral plate.
Holotype ♀ and paratypes 3♀♀ were collected from Wanglang Natural Reserves, Pingwu County of Sichuan Province (32°59’ N, 104°06’ E) in June 1983 of Apodemus chevrieri and Eothenomys eva. |
