| abstract | In this paper a hew genus and new species of gamasid mites is described and figured, and a new family is proposed for it.
Bulbogamasidae fam. nov.
Forked seta 3-tined, with a hyline membranous excrescence by it. Corniculi bulbo-like expanded, lightly sclerotized. Anterior margin of tectum smooth. Dorsal plate entirely covering the dorsum. Leg II of male bearing a large spur internally.

Bulbogamasus gen. nov.
Bulbogamasidae. Large mites, length of idiosoma over 1 mm. Single dorsal plate bearing 26 setal pairs with the marginals stouter and the centrals finer. Tritosternum well developed with tip of lacina spine-like and some of lateral branches of it bifurcated. Female provided with ventro-anal plate and preanal setae. Posterior portion of peritremal plate not fused with parapodal plate. Spermatophoral process thick and long, more than two times of the length of chela.
Type species: Bulbogamasus sinicus gen. et sp. nov.
Species diagnosis as above (figs. 1-17).
Holotype ♀ and 1 paratype ♀ were collected on 24. VI. 1987, allotype ♂ and 6 paratypes ♀♀ on 7. IX. 1987; all off scarab, from Longchuan County (24.3° N, 97.9° E), Yunnan Province. The type specimens are deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Guiyang Medical College. |
