| abstract | A species of Pleuronectocelaeno associated with Ips typographus L. in Japan is described, and the validity of North American and European species of Pleuronectocelaeno is discussed. The characters used to separate subspecies of Pleuronectocelaeno barbara Athias-Henriot are too variable to be reliable. Likewise, the North American species, P. drymoecetes Kinn, is indistinguishable from P. barbara and, therefore, is synonymized under P. barbara. |
