abstractThis paper deals with four new species and a new subspecies of Aceria from China. All measurements are in micra. Type specimens are deposited in Nanjing Agricultural University.
1. Aceria osmanthis Kuang, sp. nov. (protogyne) (figs. 1-5)
This new species allied to Aceria cajani Channa Basavanna, but its shield and female genitalia coverflap smooth, the coxa of foreleg with granules, and featherclaw with 3 rays.
Holotype ♀, allotype ♂, paratypes 10♀♀, Tie protogyne collected from Suzhou, City (31°03ʼ N, 120°06ʼ E), Jiangsu Province, IV 9, 1985 by Yi Qian-xiang; Nanjing City (32°00ʼ N, 118°07ʼ E), Jiangsu Province, V 15, 1986, by Qui Lian-you, Gong Jin-nian and VI 29, 1989, by Luo Guang-hong. The deutogyne collected from Shanghai City (31°02ʼ N, 121°04ʼ E), III 30, 1988 by Wu Guo-jiang; all from Osmanthus fragrant.
2. Aceria avenae Kuang et Zhang, sp. nov. (figs. 6-10)
This new species similar to Aceria tulipae(Keifer), but the median line surpassing one half of the shield, tibia seta of leg I lying on the middle of dorsal side, and female genitalia coverflap with 10-14 longitudinal ribs.
Holotype ♀, paratypes 19♀♀, Qitai County(44°00ʼ N, 89°05ʼ E), Xinjiang Autonomous Region, VI 25, 1987, from Avena sativa, by Zhang Jiang-ling.
3. Aceria jiangsunensis Kuang, sp. nov. (figs. 11-15)
This new species related to Aceria neocynarae (Keifer), but with 75-85 body rings, the tergites with elliptic microtubercles, the base of submedian line having a elongated cell in which there is a short line, and the female genitalia coverflap with 10-12 longitudinal ribs.
Holotype ♀, paratypes 9♀♀, Zhenjiang City (32°02ʼ N, 119°04ʼ E), Jiangsu Province, X 23, 1986, from Salix sp., by Kuang Hai-yuan.
4. Aceria kunminensis Kuang et Hong, sp. nov. (figs. 16-20)
This new species closed to Aceria abalis Keifer, but with many intermittent longitudinal stripes extending laterally from the outer of the submedian lines, the tergites with ellipse microtubercles, the featherclaw being 6 rays and the female genitalia coverflap having 12-14 longitudinal ribs.
Holotype ♀, paratypes 6♀♀, Kunming City (25°00ʼ N, 102°07ʼ E), Yunnan Province, V 6, 1987, from Artemisia argyi, by Hong Xiao-yue.
5. Aceria sheldoni chinensis Kuang et Hong, ssp. nov. (figs. 21-25)
This new subspecies very closed to Aceria sheldoni (Ewing), but the female genitalia coverflap with 12-14 longitudinal ribs and the featherclaw being 5-6 rays.
Holotype ♀, paratypes 21♀♀, Gao County (28°03ʼ N, 104°05ʼ E), Sichuan Province, III.1987, from Citrus sp., by Huang Fang-leng; Guiyang City (26°06ʼ N, 106°07ʼ E), Guizhou Province, V 1987, from Citrus aurantium and Citrus reticulata, by Hong Xiao-yue.
