| abstract | The female of Euvarroa wongsirii new species is described and illustrated. It was collected from Apis andreniformis (Smith 1858) in Uthai Thani, Chiengrai, Thailand. It is apparently not found on other honey bees species. Euvarroa wongsirii is compared with E. sinhai, a mite found on Apis florea in Southeast Asia. Characters that readily distinguish the new species from Euvarroa sinhai are broadly triangular body, wider posteriorly, bearing 47-54 long lanceolate setae, and broad anal plate. |
