| abstract | The new species, Formicomotes heteromorphus sp. n. is described and figured. The author gives detailed descriptions of recently determined female morphs (the first record of nonsexual dimorphism in the family), male (the first record in the subfamily), physogastric female, embryo and egg. All these forms are illustrated as well. Morphology and systematics are briefly discussed; the main remark is that the genus Formicomotes Sevastianov, 1980 was established on the basis of a single morph, and may be congeneric with Dolichomotes Smiley, 1967. The author slightly extends diagnosis of Formicomotinae subfam. and Formicomotes gen. Also some notes on phylogeny and biology are given. |
