| abstract | The soil mites of the Balearic Islands are poorly known in spite of their great biogeographical interest. This paper is the first study on thesoil oribatid fauna of Minorca (Balearic Islands). Fifty-two species of oribatid mites have been collected from four localities of Minorca. One genus, three species and one subspecies are described: Ctenobelba parafoliata n.sp., Minoricoppia balearica n.g., n.sp., Pergalumna minoricana n.sp. and Corynoppia kosarovi maritima n.ssp. Steganacarus (Tropacarus) brevipilus (Berlese, 1923) is the first record for Spain. |
