| abstract | Asca sinica sp. nov. (figs. 1-5)
The new species is similar to Asca sculptrata Aoki, but may be distinguished by the following characters: 1) all dorsal setae of the new species sickle-like or paddle-like except S8, that of the latter species needle-like; 2) St1 off the sternal plate and anterior margin of the plate closely near the 1st pair of lyriform pores in the new species, while that St1 on the plate and a certain distance between anterior margin and lyriform pores in the latter species; 3) behind the genital plate with a slender platelet in the new species, while that with 2 pairs of platelets in the latter species; 4) anterior margin of ventroanal plate convex, and 6 pairs of setae on the plate, the posterior 2 pairs of setae sickle-like in the new species, while the anterior margin of ventroanal plate flat and all 6 pairs of setae on the plate simple in the latter species.
Holotype ♀ and paratype 1♀ were collected from the tunnels and nests of Myrmos sp., on June 9 and 12, 1988, from Haiyuan County (36.5° N, 105.6° E), Ningxia Autonomous Region, by Bai Xue-li, and deposited in the Institute of Endemic Disease Control, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Yinchuan. |
