| abstract | In this papaer, two new species of Hypoaspis Canestrini, 1884, from formicary are described and figured.
1. Hypoaspis paracuneifer sp. nov. (figs. 1-11)
Holotype ♀, allotype ♂ and paratypes 10♀♀, 4♂♂ and 3 protonymphs were collected on June 6, 1988, from 3 nests of ants in Haiyuan County (16.5° N [sic - read 36.5], 105.6° E), Ningxia Autonomous Region, by Bai Xue-li. Paratypes 2♀♀, 1♂ and 1 protonymph are deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Guiyang Medical College, and the other types deposited in the Institute of Endemic Disease Control, Ningxia.
The new spcies is close to Hypoaspis cuneifer (Michael, 1891) and H. neocuneifer Evans et Till, 1966, but can be differentiated as shown in the following table [omitted]
2. Hypoaspis subpictus sp. nov. (figs. 12-17)
Holotype ♀ and paratype 1♀ were collected on June 12, 1988, from a nest of ants in Hai-yuan County (16.5° N [sic - read 36.5], 105.6° E), Ningxia Autonomous Region, by Bai Xue-li. Holotype is deposited in Institute of Endemic Disease Control, Ningxia Autonomous Region, and paratype deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Guiyang Medical College.
This new species may be separated from all known species of the genus by the following combined characters: idiosoma small, 370µm in length; all the dorsal setae leafform; margins of posterior and lateral parts of sternal plate and anterior part of genitoventral plate indistinct; genitoventral plate mushroom-like; external side of peritreme with some dental process. |
