| abstract | This paper deals with seven gamasid mites on bat with descriptions of two new species of Macronyssus collected from Shanxi Province, China. Spinturnicidae Oudemans
1. Spinturnix psi (Kolenati, 1856)
2. Eyndhovenia euryalis (Canestrini, 1884)
Macronyssidae Oudemans
3. Steatonyssus longispinosus Wang, 1963
4. Steatonyssus sinensis Teng, 1980
5. Ichoronyssus scutatus (Kolenati, 1856)
6. Macronyssus quadrispinosus sp. nov.
7. Macronyssus taiyuanensis sp. nov.
Macronyssus quadrispinosus sp. nov (figs. 1-3)
This new species closely resembles Macronyssus xianduensis Zhou et al, 1982, but with the following differences: 1) The new species with 26 setal pairs on dorsal plate, while that of the latter with 24 setal pairs; 2) posterior margin of sternal plate of the new species more deeply concave, reaching the level of St2, whereas that of the latter reaching the middle between St2 and St3; 3) the new species with 4 spines in the fixed digit of chela, while that of the latter wanting.
Holotype ♀ and paratypes 10♀♀ collected in August 1977, by Tian Qing-yun, off Rickettia pilosa and Myotis myotis ancilla, in Taiyuan City (37.8° N, 112.5° E), Shanxi Province. Holotype and paratypes 8♀♀ deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Shanxi Medical College, and paratypes 2♀♀ deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Medical School of Nanjing University.
Macronyssus taiyuanensis sp. nov.(figs. 4-6)
This new species is similar to Macronyssus quadrispinosus sp. nov., but with the following differences: 1) This new species with 27 pairs of setae on dorsal plate; 2) with 2 spines on the fixed digit of chela; 3) the posterior margin of sternal plate concave, reaching the middle between St3 and St3; 4) with different shape of sternal organs.
Holotype ♀ and paratypes 5♀♀ collected in August 1987 [sic - read 1977], by Tian Qing-yun, off Rickettia pilosa [in Chinese text not mentioned] and Myotis myotis ancilla, in the southern suburb of Taiyuan City (37°09ʼ N, 112°23ʼ E), Shanxi Province. Holotype and paratypes 4♀♀ deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Shanxi Medical College, and paratype 1♀ deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Medical School of Nanjing University. |
