abstractThe present paper deals with 5 genera and 10 species of Parasitinae from Shaanxi Province, among them Vulgarogamasus oligochaetus. Vulgarogamasus multisetus and Vulgarogamasus palmatus are new to science; Vulgarogamasus remberti (Oudemans, 1912) is recorded for the first time from China. Type specimens are deposited in Shaanxi Sanitation and Anti-Epidemic Station.
Vulgarogamasus oligochaetus sp. nov. (figs. 1-7)
Holotype ♀ was collected in the nest of birds, on May 7, 1983, from Ningshan County, 33.5° N, 108.5° E, Shaanxi Province.
The new species with particular shaped tectum; inner side of peritreme bearing denticles; only 2 pairs of sternal setae, St3 and MSt absent, by these characteristics may be easily differenciated from other species in the genus.
Vulgarogamasus multisetus sp. nov. (figs. 8-13)
Holotype ♀ and paratype 1♀ were collected from nest of Cricetus triton de Winton, on Oct. 27, 1982, from Changan County (34.2° N, 108.9° E), Shaanxi Province.
Most species of Vulgarogamasus bearing 21-23 setal pairs on podonotal plate and about 20 (the greatest number 27) setal pairs on opisthonotal plate, but the new species bearing 34 setal pairs on podonotal plate and 54 setal pairs on opisthonotal plate, 2 times more than the general.
Vulgarogamasus palmatus sp. nov. (figs. 14-21)
Holotype ♀ was collected from cave of Ochotona thibetana Milne-Edwards, on Apr. 26, 1984, from Shangnan County (33.8°N, 110.8°E), Shaanxi Province.
This new species is near to the former new species, the differences are idiosoma smaller; dorsal setae lesser; with a spine on the basal portion of palp femur; a crest on trochanter IV, and a long seta on tarsus IV.
Vulgarogamasus remberti (Oudemans, 1912)
The first record from China. 1 female was collected off Cricetus triton de Winton, on Oct. 29, 1982, from Changan County.
