| abstract | The Phthiracaroidea from the Berleseʼs collection stored in the Istituto Sperimentale per la Zoologia Agraria (Cascine del Riccio, Firenze) are elaborated. Redescriptions of the species described by Berlese are presented, and lectotypes and paralectotypes are designated. Status of two undescribed species from the collection is cleared: Phthiracarus echidninus is a synonym of Atropacarus (A.) striculus and P. ewingi is described. Three other new species from the collection: Plonaphacarus optivus, P. persimilis, Notophthiracarus (?) paravariolosus are described here. Two species: P. subglobosus and P. roubali are synonymised. |
