| abstract | A new species of water mite, Unionicola foili, from the subgenus Parasitatax is proposed. Although species in the genus Unionicola traditionally are described on the basis of morphological characters, U. foili has been designated primarily on the basis of host specificity and allozyme analysis since it is morphologically indistinguishable from its sibling species, U. formosa. |
