abstractTwo new eriophyid mites from Brazil are described: Distaceria ommatos, n. g., n. sp., and its alternate form, both with conspicuous eye-like structures, and Acalitus accola. Both mite species were collected from the same leaves of an unidentified small Rubiaceae tree, with galls on the upper surfaces and erineum on the lower surfaces.
