| abstract | Gamasodes guoluoensis sp. nov. (figs. 1-8)
Holotype deutonymph collected in a cave of rat, Aug. 26, 1986, paratype 1 deutonymph collected in a nest of bird, Aug. 30, 1986, from Dari County, Guoluo Zang Autonomous State, Qinghai Province (33°46ʼ N, 99°37ʼ E), deposited in the Department of Parasitology, Medical School, Nanjing University.
The new species differs from its closely related ally Gamasodes corniculans Athias-Henriot, 1978 in the following respects: 1) the central prong of tectum narrow and pointed, each side with only 4 teeth, while the central prong of the latter species with expanded base and with 7-8 teeth on each side, some of them bifurcated; 2) spurs on leg II thumb-like or finger-like, with smooth and round end, while those of the latter species shorter and stouter, with rough and pointed tip; 3) the new species bearing 1-2 more pairs of opisthonotal setae, and F2, ET1 without branches. |
