| abstract | A new genus and a new species of Hypoaspidinae (Acarida: Mesostigmata, Laelapidae) are described, collected in the surroundings of lago de Chapala in the State of Jalisco, Mexico; it was phoretically associated with Strategus aloeus (L.) (Coleoptera, Melolonthidae). Attached to the legs of the laelapid mites were other phoretic mites of the genus Histiostoma (Astigmata: Histiostomatidae). |
