| abstract | Alkithoenemus cynopterus, new genus and species, is described from female specimens collected from the fruit bat, Cynopterus nusatenggara from Lombok Island, Indonesia. Females of the new genus are most similar to those of genera in the tribe Tarsonemellini, all of whose previously known species are associated with figs (Ficus spp.) or fig-associated insects. The subgenus Paratarsonemella is removed from the genus Tarsonemella and raised to generic rank. |
