abstractDescriptions are presented of the mite species Heterodispus guatemalanus n.sp. collected in Guatemala as well as Scutacarus schoemanni n.sp., S. comatulus n.sp. and S. medusae n.sp. collected in El Salvador, all found in soil samples. Scutacarus eucomus eucomus (Berlese, 1908) was found for the first time on the American continent in samples from El Salvador and Mexico. The findings of S. andrassyi Mahunka, 1968 in samples from Guatemala and Imparipes (I.) zicsii Mahunka, 1968 in Belize represent the first records of Scutacaridae in these countries.
