abstractTwo new species of the genus Echinonyssus (Laelapidae) from the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz in Mexico are described and illustrated: E. teresae from Microtus mexicanus fulviventer and E. isabelae from Microtus quasiater. Mites of this genus are haematophagous ectoparasites. Fifteen species have been previously reported from Mexico, 12 of which showing affiliations with nearctic species and 3 with neotropical species. These two new species are related to E. lunatus and E. proctolatus, with which they share unique features of the sternal, genital and anal plates.
