| abstract | Lavoipierre (1946) erected the family Pediculochelidae and thought it presents the general features of the family Tarsonemidae. Baker and Wharton (1952) included it in the Astigmata and this viewpoint was not followed until 1970. Krantz (1970) suggested that itbelonged to Pachygnathoidea but with no supportive discussion. Norton, OConnor andJohnston (1983) based on a cladistic analysis, proposed that the family represents a sistergroup of the Haplochthoniidae (Oribatida). In this paper, two new species are described. All measurements are given in micrometers. Type specimens are deposited in the Department of Plant Protection, Southwest Agricultural University. |
