abstractSamples from tidal and subtidal zones from the Great Barrier Reef area off eastern Australia contained one species of Isobactrus and 11 of Rhombognathus. Three of these 12 rhombognathine species, Isobactrus ponapensis Abé, Rhombgnathus papuensis Bartsch, and R. scutulatus Bartch, have been recorded previously from areas outside eastern Australia. The nine species R. cyrtonotus sp.nov., R. delicatulus sp.nov., R. lathridius sp.nov., R. levigatus sp.nov., R. longipes sp.nov., R. reticulifer sp.nov., R. seminotatus sp.nov., R. tericulus sp.nov. and R. validipes sp.nov. are described. A key is given to the eastern Australian rhombognatines.
