abstractTwo new species of oribatid mites belonging to the genus Scheloribates are described from Mongolia. The first new species, Scheloribates corpusculum sp.nov. differs from closely related species by the long lamellar setae, the thin and smooth interlamellar setae, the different number of setae on tarsi I and III, the relatively short notogastral, epimeral and ano-genital setae, the slender and poorly barbed sensilli, and the different body size. The second new species, Scheloribates gunini sp.nov. can be distinguished from congeners by the distinctly pointed rostrum, the relatively wide lamellae, the long and lanceolate shape of sensilli, the thin rostral and lamellar setae, the different number of setae on tarsus I, and the different body size. In addition, the known species, S. laevigatus (C.L.Koch, 1836) and S.latipes (C.L.Koch, 1844) are redescribed, which are recorded for the first time from Mongolia, with a discussion on the taxonomic problem of these two species.
