abstractA new family, Archaeorchestidae, a new genus and species of fossil oribatid mite, Archaeorchestes minguezae are described from the Spanish Lower Cretaceous. The new family belongs to the superfamily Zetorchestoidea. The fossil is preserved in a piece of amber found near Penacerrada (Province of Alava, North of Spain).
