abstractNo less than 16 species of the genus Arctoseius occur in the arctic tundra and polar deserts. Such a species diversity within a single genus is unique among terrestrial animals in High Arctic. Four species of Arctoseius were found to be new to science. The new morphometric characters and those previously used in the systematics of the genus are analyzed, and a set of characters necessary for reliable description and identification of species is compiled. The new species Arctoseius tschernovi sp. n. (Franz Josef Land, Severnaya Zemlya, N coast of Taimyr, and Wrangel Island) and A. miranalis sp. n. (Severnaya Zemlya, Chelyuskin Peninsula, N coast of Yakutia, and Novosibirskie Islands) are described.
