abstractFor the Notostrix mites, references, distribution and host plants of the previously known species are provided. Six new species are described from American palm trees (Arecaceae) which include: Nosostrix fissipes from Attalea dubia; N. trifida from Lytocaryum hoehnei; N. vasquezae from Sabal sp.; N. longiseta from Butia archeri; N. acuminata from Acrocomia aculeata and Syagrus oleracea; and N. miniseta from Bactris vulgaris. A key for the identification of the 13 species of the world that now integrate the genus is included.
