| abstract | A new mite species Heterodispus (Heterodispus) turkmenistaniensis sp. n. collected from soil in Turkmenistan is described and illustrated. The genus Heterodispus Paoli, 1911 (Acari: Scutacaridae) includes 33 species placed into two subgenera Heterodispus s. str. and Teherodispus Mahunka, 1974. Until now, only a single species of this genus, H. elongatus Tragardh, 1904, was recorded from Turkmenistan [Chydyrov, 1999]. The junior author collected one more undescribed species Heterodispus turkmenistaniensis sp. n. from Turkmenistan. The description of this species is given below. |
