| abstract | Phytoscutus japonicus n.sp., the first known member of this genus from Japan, is described and illustrated based on females collected from citrus leaves in Miyazaki Pref., Kyushu. It resembles P. acaridophagus (Collyer) in having the dorsal shield with seta J2, but differs in having the opisthoscutum with lobed striae, ventrianal shield noticeably wider than long, and leg IV with 3 macrosetae. |
