| abstract | Gnorimus and Gnoriminae were erected by Chaudhri (1975), who put it in the Phytoseiidae. Up to the present, only one species has been recorded in Pakistan. This paper reports one new species from Fujian Province. This species is effective natural enemy of the Tarsonoemus spp. in rice paddies. Measurements are in micra. Type specimens are deposited in the Guangdong Institute of Entomology. Gnorimus chaudhrii Wu et Wang, sp. nov. (figs. 1—7) Female: Dorsal shield entire, reticulated, with 22 pairs of setae and six pairs of pores. All setae are micro-serrate on the dorsal shield. Sublateral setae three pairs on the membrane. Ventrianal shield with six preanal setae. Only two pairs of setae (including VI_1) on membrane surrounding ventrianal shield. Leg IV macrosetae on segments numbered as follows: genu 1, tibial 1, basitarsus 3 and distitarsus 1. Male: Dorsal shield smooth. Sublateral setae three pairs on membrane. Ventrianal shield wider than long, with four pairs of preanal setae. Chelicera with 8—10 teeth on fixed digit and 3—4 teeth on movable digit. Spermatodactyl as fig. 6. Holotype female, Alltype male, Paratypes 7 females, 3 males, X-10-1981, from Fuzhou, Fujian Province, on rice plant. Gnorimus chaudhrii is similar to Gnorimus tabella Chaudhri (1975, 1980), but differs from the latter in shape of spermatheca (figs. 4 and 8), serrate dorsal setae and numbers of macrosetae on leg IV. |
